Centennial Year Church Events
Below are shown a number of photos of wedding services that have been performed throughout the one hundred year history of SS. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church in South River, New Jersey. We expect that this page will grow in size over time through the generous contribution of our parishioners.
The photo above shows the wedding of Helen (Lee) Durovich, to U.S. Coast Guardsman Harris Major in our Church on August 2, 1942. The priest celebrating the Wedding Service was Rev. Nicholas Ouspensky. Harris (reposed 1998) and Lee Major (reposed 1999) were the parents of Joyce Major and Anne Marie Major. Below (photos left and right) is the wedding of Vera Durovich to Donald Dorn (reposed 2003) on September 17, 1955. The cleric performing the wedding service was the V. Rev. Philip Pechinsky (reposed September, 1959).

Above left, Violet Messeka weds Nicholas Durovich on May 22, 1948. Not readily visible was the officiant, V. Rev. Philip Pechinsky, who that very day was celebrating his own 25th wedding anniversary. Nicholas Durovich reposed in July, 2004. Above right is a studio portrait of Anna Kaminsky and Harry Emil Durovich on their wedding day. They were married in our Church on July 1, 1912 by the Rev. Valerian Belsky. Their daughter, Vera Dorn, has validated the pertinent information by showing the Webmaster a copy of the marriage certificate. Anna reposed on February 8, 1954 and Harry reposed on December 1, 1959.

The block of five photos above shows the wedding of Miss Paula Evelyn Bihuniak to Mr. Ronald George Mindzak at SS. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church on September 21, 1974. The first photo shows Paula with her father, John Bihuniak, before entering the Church for the Wedding Service. The second photo shows the bride and groom in the center of our Church with the celebrant of the service, V. Rev. Joseph A. Kreshik. In the middle photo we see Paula's honor attendant, her sister Anastasia, standing directly behind Paula. The last two photos in the set show Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Mindzak at the conclusion of the Wedding Service. Paula and Ronald are now the proud parents of two children, Mrs. Stephanie Schiebel and Mr. Andrew Mindzak.

Above is another wedding photo contributed by the Bihuniak family of our parish. Shown are Miss Julianna J. Meevers-Scholte and Mr. John Bihuniak who were married in our Church by V. Rev. Sergius S. Kuharsky on August 11, 1979. John is the brother of parishioners Anastasia Essl and Paula Mindzak. John and Julianna are the proud parents of John Paul, Suzanne June, and Katherine Elaine Bihuniak.

Above are Tamara Lynn Essl, daughter of Karl and Anastasia Essl, and Joseph John Posluszny. They were married by V. Rev. Sergius S. Kuharsky in our Church on May 25, 1996. Mr. and Mrs. Posluszny are now the proud parents of sons Jeremy David and Brian Karl. These photos were provided by Mrs. Posluszny, Thanks to Tamara for her contribution of these photographic memories.
