Church Services

Good Friday - the Commemoration of the Crucifiction and Burial of Christ - Is the Most Solemn Day in the Orthodox Church Calendar. It Is a Day of the Strictest Fast and the Divine Liturgy, a Celebration of the Eucharist - Is Not Served. In Services on the Afternoon of April 9, 2004, Fr. David Reads the Gospel Telling of Christ's Crucifiction and Burial. The Winding Sheet is Then Borne in Procession from the Sanctuary and Placed in the Tomb in the Center of the Church.

After Censing the Tomb Three Times, Fr. David Gave the Parishoners in Attendance a Sermon about the Day. He Then Venerated the Tomb by Making Prostrations Before It and The Parishoners Did Likewise.

The Church is Kept Open from the Conclusion of This Service Until 11:30 p.m. on Holy Saturday. A Parishoner Stands Watch at the Tomb at All Times and Reads from the Psalms.

One Sees Various Views of Christ's Tomb in Our Church, Adorned with Beautiful White Flowers.

Our Choir Members Attended the Service in Great Numbers and Sang the Responses Solemnly and Beautifully. Our Church Has Been Blessed Over the Last Half-Century with Many Talented Choir Members Using Their Voices in Praise to God. As Well, Mr. Basil Kozak is the Current in a Long Lineage of Dedicated and Capable Choir Directors Who Have Served Our Church.
