Centennial Year Church Events

November 13, 2005 - After Divine Liturgy Concelebrated by His Beatitude HERMAN, Archbishop of Washington and New York, Metropolitan of All America and Canada, SS. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church Held Her Centennial Anniversary Banquet at the Forsgate Country Club in Monroe Township, N.J., on the afternoon of November 13, 2005. This day was the second day of the weekend which marked the culmination of our Centennial Year Anniversary. The following photoreport details the reception, banquet, and dancing which comprised the afternoon, brought to an end our Centennial Year, and marked the beginning of our second century of service and worship for Orthodox Christians. This is the second page of a two-page photoreport. It focuses primarily on table shots of guests at the banquet and dancing - and oh what celebratory dancing there was! Enjoy!

Above, the pastoral setting outside the banquet hall at the Forsgate Country Club. The Forsgate Country Club adjoins an 18 hole golf course. Below are photos of the dancing which occurred both before, during, and after the meal. November 13 being two days before the beginning of Nativity Fast, it was an opportune time for "cutting the rug", as it were! Below left, a three piece band played throughout the afternoon. The remaining photos show our parishioners in motion, some moving so fast that 1/20 second exposure could not stop them! Enjoy!

Below left, the late fall afternoon on the golf course at Forsgate Country Club. The sun sets on November 13, 2005, thus marking an end to the Centennial Weekend, the Centennial Year observances, and the first One Hundred Years of SS. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church in South River, New Jersey. The sun rose on Monday, November 14, 2005, marking the beginning of our Church's second century. Below right, parishioner Dorothy Messeka and her grand-niece take time out from the hustle and bustle of the banquet to enjoy the unseasonably warm afternoon and to reflect upon the past and the future. Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ had stated, "Suffer the little children to come unto me, for of such is the Kingdom of Heaven." By God's grace and providence, succeeding generations of children will be baptized into the Orthodox Faith and become upright and productive members of the God-fearing community known as SS. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church. In this manner, our second "Century of Worship and Service" will have come to fruition! Many Years! Mnogaya Lyeta!
